I am having troubles with my setworks

Anyone near Glacier Park or Kalispell that has a 2000 mill I can plug mine into to see if the problem is mine or something else

Button down does not work, button up works

Have swapped wires at solenoid.
It works

ordered a setworks from TK, $750
should be here in 2 days. 4 day shipping.

will compare the signals on the two to fix the original. will keep the second one as a backup.

I assume you called TK for troubleshooting.  they can help you determine if it is the encoder or a wire or the setworks.  do not spend money to swap parts.  I had trouble and it was the encoder, and I have also changed the solenoid since.

my background
91-92 Devry, Electronic Tech course
92-93 Semi tool, running cable and wires
94-2011 Hypercom, component level repair of credit car machines and networking equipment
later did failure analysis at Hypercom
2011 retired at age 42

so on the timberking
encoder = OK. setworks displays correct height
cable = OK
solenoid = OK
setworks = bad.

with engine off, setworks on
press up = relay clicks
press down = no click
inspect circuit board and transistor trace shows burn. no burn smell.
will use O-scope to compare the old to the new. determine what is bad then repair.

My approach would be different.  I would just give it a good ole "whump", and hope for the best.  :D

It might be worth trying to clean the potentiometer with a spray cleaner. Pots get dirty. The old temporary field fix for a dirty pot is to just exercise it back and forth briefly. A large percentage of potentiometer problems are just dit or glaze build up.

Are these pots carbon or wirewound?

Looks like I posted in the wrong thread.  I meant to put this in a thread about an LT40 power feed problem.  Oops. :-\
