Has anyone rebuilt the tensioning mechanism on a woodmizer? Anything to look out for? WM rep told me to watch out for stripping the allen head set-screws on the back of the unit.

2nd owner, trying to get the old girl (1992 model) going again. I'm getting blow-by fluid out of the hole in the bottom of the tension system. Called WM, and they said it sounds like bad seals and recommended the rebuild kit so I'm trying that. I was getting about 1/5 of the required tension before I ran out of screw. Tried adding fluid and now I'm getting the blow-by as soon as the piston makes contact with the blade pusher thingy. So I can put zero tension on the blade as it sits. Seals/ rebuild sounds reasonable based on age/ condition of machine but if anyone has any advice on this topic I'm all ears.

I did that task on my '05 LT40 and I have no idea if yours has a similar construction, so the following may not be appropriate for you.
Pack a lot of patience and if like mine you will need to warm up one or more of the seals for easier assembly.  I used a soup can with water in it and a propane torch.
Wish you luck.
