looking for ideas on how to load logs in to containers the best way and what equipment you need to have to do it

I have done that. Ideally is a grapple machine,  but we have used excavators or backhoes also. You hang a loose chainloop in front of the bucket, one end of the log off the ground. Move your bucket over the end and the chain goes freehanging under the log, then tilt the bucket. The log is now suspended in the air, like a horizontal telephone pole and you can drive it into the container.  Works best with long and thin logs

Depends how many containers there are to load.

Some places don't want any bark so sawn squares/ cants can be bundled and forked into side opening containers.

Fairly common, the use of steel frames to prep the log bundle, the pusher on the rubber tire loader and weighing the container on scales.

Then my method will not work.

For shorter logs they pile it up in the door or the container with a grapple machine and then chain a telehandler to the container and instead of forks they mount push boards and push the whole pack to the end of the container. remember a 40' container is only loaded maybe 4' high because lumber is heavy and if not you will exceed weight restrictions. a 20' is loaded up to the roof. also do you need to balance load on a long container or they will reject the load at port.

Just go visit an exporters log yard.  They will fill logs into a box that is open ended, the they use a giant push rod with a flat plat on the end mounted to a big front end loader, just pushes the whole stack of logs to end of the container.   Fill more logs, repeat.

Exporters are all competitors for the same orders so they have to be efficient.
