Greetings from England. This is my first posting on the Forum although I have visited frequently over the past few months. I am having problems with the throttle cable and speed adjustments on my Lumbemate 2000. Any advice on setting up and possibly replacing the cable would be appreciated. The cable seems rather primitive, is there any reason not to change it for a braided type ?

I used to have a Lumbermate and had the same problem. I went to the hardware store and bought some braided stainless steel cable. I them lubed it and replaced the solid wire with it. It worked great.

Hi NickS:  Many of us have found the B&S 23 to be running below the 3600 rpm required to operate the clutch without slippage---I reccommend getting a RPM tach and cking this out-- if the RPM is down-- 3400 ish a simple fix is to slip a nail behind the loop of the gov. spring -- ck out the Norwood site,  pack posts for details--JP

Tnanks for all for suggestions, I replaced the cable with a universal type motorcycle cable, I also found the throttle lever to be binding on the outer air filter casing( Honda 13HP)this was easily remedied with a knife.
