and lack of common sense in the world.  I am a member of a few other forums.  One in specific has a thread about rebuilding motors on ATV's.  Somewhere along the way these people have decided that with a simple .010 to .030 over bore they can achieve 880 cc's with a 650cc machine and gain 30-40 horse power easily.  You try to talk some sense in to them and they snap back like you are an idiot and you don't know anything.  Rant off.  Man I hat stupid people.

When people are sharing their ignorance, I figure I need to stay away or I will get hurt.

Usually, I like to steer people (who are willing to listen) toward wisdom with questions - like -

Hmmm, I wonder why all the high paid engineers in these companies haven't figured out something so simple...

Some of them actually figure it out - but the rest, well, they will learn the hard way about a little thing called tolerances.

So, how did I end up here anyway?

ElectricAl

Did they say anything about switching to alcohol injection, Nitrous and a turbo. :D

in the car world, that's normally backed up with a "lets run 'em down at the track"...

people will always talk trash, but rarely put money where their mouth is.

don't loose much sleep over it, a lot of those guys get their jollies off of making people mad.

That is the main reason this is the only forum that I have stayed with,we do not have people that enjoy running their mouths about nothing. Why put up with it when we have a nice bunch of people here that are willing to help out anyone without trying to stir something up.

It took some serius cylinder, head, crank, and piston work, But I know of a 700cc engine that is now a 900cc engine. Yes, it was more than just a .030 over bore.  He drag races, and pulls with it.

I have a 750cc 4wd ATV,  that I work with, and compete with.  And when this engine blows, the 840 kit is going in...along with added water and oil cooling capacity....

This kid just wanted to a bsic bore job and everyong was telling him he needed a bigger carb and a new pipe to do your basic bore job.  He even had the owner of an engine shop that is very reputable telling him that the engine wouldn't rev as fast unledd he bought a new carb and pipe, and he should get a new cam and all the goodies to go with it.
