Does anyone know what happened the the Woodbug web site?
Did I put off buying this mill for two long?

Any help would be great.

They may be gone Michael, and belly up.  Too bad to because it's an awesome mill, for the owner operator.  I've cut a lot of accurate lumber on one.

I tried contacting them several times and no response. Big problem was probably shipping costs killing their business for one reason.

I can make you one if you want to come and pick it up... ;D

Did you ever get around to finding that filing method in the manual?

All I've ever heard is how great the woodbug method is...

There's a fine line between turning firewood into beautiful things and beautiful things into firewood.

Well I was afraid I would wait to long.
Shipping was one of the reasons I waited, Then steel prices, exchange rate and so on.

JP I will keep your offer to build one open.  I don't really need it for a couple of more years.
Although now that I am stationed on the central coast of California you are the closest I will be to you.

Thanks

Sorry about that Dan... I totally forgot about it, I've been so busy.

Angles they (woodbug) filed are 15 degrees point high (chain cutter corner, called point) and 25 degrees across the tooth. Starting with a 7/32" file on a oregon "R" type 73 RD, or 73 RA ripping chain. These are 3/8 x .058 chains.

THey used an Oregon file guide (Oregon part No. 23736A) and took it apart and reversed it to file from the outside of the tooth in, at those angles.

Michael,
The one i bought was damaged by a tree during Katrina(tree revenge?). So i priced out the steel to fix the one section($40), then i priced out the steel to build one 23' long from scratch-approx $250. It is only 1/8 inch angle and square tubing. I plan on building this soon, and it will allow me to cut beams out to 40'.
