I had some lumber posted for sale on our local online classifides website & received this message from someone. I don't think that I can do it as I'd likely cause more damage than Hurricane Rita did to their property! I also didn't want to ignore it, not my nature so I figured this is the best place to ask.

FYI this person is in Silsbee, Tx which is South East Texas about 15 miles from Beaumont, Tx. I have her email address, but dont want to post it... but I'll give it to anyone able to assist.. you can contact her via that. Hey... free lumber... Heres the message:

I do not know if you can help me. We have over 15 pines trees that need to come down. I had two cut, and was charged $900.00. We are senior citizens, and the hurrican just about did us in. I had to have a serious back surgery. I had two rods , six screws. and bone chips in my back. That was in Feb. of this year. My husband has just completed radiation for prostate cancer. He is 70 yrs. old old, and I am 68 yrs. I still have to wear a body cast, and I am allowed to sit in a chair for 30 minutes a day. Do you know anyone that can help us? Some trees can be allowed to fall, but a couple need to be climbed. We can not do this. I want nothing for the wood. We liove in Silsbee. Please help us or recommed some one to help us. Sincerely, Marie Davis

That kind of thing is tough to deal with sometimes.  Ya never really know what the situation is. ???  They may be poor as a church mouse, or have a bunch of money and don't want to spend it.  You may be able to deal with all the trees from the ground, or they may all be climbers.  It is almost certain that if someone would do this in exchange for the wood, he would be getting the short end of the stick.

I'd ride by their place if I could and take a quick look before giving them an answer.  I'm like you, in that I can't bring myself to just ignore something like this. :-\

The trees may not really need to come down, anyway.  People always seem to get panicky right after a Hurricane.  Those trees survived Rita, so there's no reason to think they're gonna fall now. ::)
