 8) 8) does anyone know of a fair market for cedar cants the best i have found is 55 cents bd ft  if i cant do better then this i guess i will give up  also i have heard china is buying cedar from russia does anyone know for sure :P :P :( :( :(

What kind of cedar are you asking about? What quantity?

A safe rule of thumb is to know that China is currently buying everything from everyone.
The oil is all in Texas, but the dipsticks are in D.C.

Remember, China and Wal-Mart are in cahoots.  Go by the sound of the little birdie,"Cheap,Cheap, Cheap."  They are buying cants, lots of them but in the 50 cent per foot range.  This is the going price for cants in the US.  I just quoted lumber for a bird feeder.  The feeder has to be made and in the box and shipped for $4.50 per unit.Takes cheap lumber to make that.  Didn't get the bid. Don't really care that I didn't get it.
For cedar, it is the specialty markets that one wants.  They are out there, but difficult to find.
I am in the pink when sawing cedar.

I suppose a lot of that depends on WHERE you are (old real estate saying location location location!)

I don't think there is much in my area, (Ohio) but then our white/red oak are what can be had cheaply comparatively speaking.   at auctions around here cedar goes usually in the 3~5 / bf range a lot depending on thicknesses milling/planed or not ect.  Not sure about cant price, never saw/see any to price.

I still think we need to know what kind of cedar she is referring to.  Western Red. Eastern Red. Port Orford. ???
