Charlie you got a hat at 200 posts? I got nothing. :(  Did someone forget about me?

Jeff

You were not forgotten. Due to certain circumstances I have not been giving away hats. I'll just leave it at that.

Charlie, you got it mixed up. At 1000 posts I was expecting to get something. :)

No need to explain Jeff but wasn't it possible to buy hats and shirts here at one time or am I confused?

Yea, there is a link at the bottom, but they suck. There will still be hats in the future, its just a different system. I was giving them out when someone reached 200. Problem is that many of those people that got hats simply disappeared shortly after getting one. Its hard for me to believe that someone would post only to get a hat but at times that is what it looked like. Sometimes when I would send a hat and I always gave notice it was coming, Its receipt would not even be acknowledged.

I have decided that when I give a hat from now on it will be quietly, and by my merit system, which will remain a secret.

The hats were originally given to show my appreciation for supporting the forum. I buy them and they are nice. If you search the full members section you will find much about them.

With all that said, it makes me think that someone will feel unappreciated because they don't have or have not gotten a hat. Thats not the case. I appreciate each one of you, and if I could afford it you would all get one as soon as you registered but this is the real world and I am just a sawyer like many of you. I'll get to each of you if and when I can.

Charlie, you need to be carefull about getting excited, old folks can hurt themselves getting excited.  Last time I got excited I puled a hernia. ::)

Jeff, I wouldn't/didn't leave after I got the hat, of course, no other board has made a better offer for my talents. ;D

No problem Jeff, I didn't come here looking for a hat. I'm already getting everything I came for a thousand time over. Keep up the good work and thanks for the forum!

Jeff

You got to give a little to get a little.  When Mary and I were visiting with Roy and Vester May,  Roy mentioned he like my "antique" Wood-Mizer orange hat.  I admit,  I like that style better than the newer baseball style.  In a fit of generosity for Roy and Vester taking their time to visit with us,  I just gave Roy my Orange Wood-Mizer hat that was in "collector condition".

I went hatless until we got to Sarpeta, LA when, among other things, Lonny Morgan gave me a hat.  Not a Morgan hat - but one that had been given him by some steel supplier.

I wore that hat until I stopped in at the Wood-Mizer service center in Mt. Vernon, MO.  Will Baugh (service center manager) "found" us some hats.  (He never wears a cap so I guess they were his.) Anyway,  he found us two of the old style orange hats and two of the new style with the extra bead around the bill.

So,  gave one hat,  got five in return. 8)

Bro. Noble

Jeff,

I just past my 1000 post mark and recently sent you some stuff via Whitepe.  I think the rascal may have sold it in St. Louis , however. :D

Now about those caps--------The FF caps are DanG nice caps for sure!  Someone posted that you could tell the quality of a cap by the number of rows of stiching on the bill.  My FF cap has 6,  My Cat cap with racing stripes that Whitepe gave me has 6,  every DanG cap I could find had 6 rows of stiching.  When the Whites visited  here a month ago,  Becky brought me a Cat Marine cap ( that's the division of Cat where she works)  ITS GOT 8 !! 8) 8) 8)

A few years ago, Becky made arrangements to have
The Spirit of America racing boat brought in for
a PR day.   The SOA boat is owned by the fella
that owns Great Lakes Power a Cat dealer somewhere
near Cleveland.    Anyway, the semi driver gave Becky,
Jeremiah, and I an after hours tour of the boat and he gave
Jeremiah and I each a Spirit of America hat.  Earlier
in the day he had given the CAT chairman a tour of the
boat but he told us with a grin that the chairman didn't
get a free hat.  It was his way of saying thanks because
Becky worked her tail off getting permits for the semi
to come to Illinois.  Since the semi normally it isn't driven
on the highway for commerce, it couldn't be on the road
because the taxes weren't paid.  It sure made us feel special.  8)
