That sounds like y'all had a good time woodmills.

I never have been able to get a high gambling unless it was gambling with my life. Skydiving bungi jumpoing deep scuba etc. But when I live din Moblie, one of my USCG buddies was a dog track man. I would just bet on the dogs he did. Sometimes we would cover the field between the two and split. More often than not, and I do mean over 50% of the time, we left the tracks ahead. But it was all because of Gil. He was also an avid golfer when Tiger was still a pup this was in 82 thru 85 and he would go harass the local country club for not alowing him to join because he was black. I don't know if he ever ended up as the first black member because I never went with him golfing Ias it ain't my cup of tea, but he used to win money on the green as much as at the tracks.
Now that was fun. Never have got into horse racing but I can't pass up a greyhound track.

One armed bandits make no sense to me.
The oil is all in Texas, but the dipsticks are in D.C.

If ya gotta get outta the woods ya might as well go where the lights are really bright  :D

My boss sent my wife and I to Vegas for a week one time, must have wanted to keep me broke so I'd keep working  ;)  We each took $200.00 to blow(big spenders) but came home with most of it still in our pockets. Just to busy gawkin at the sights.

All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
Second, it is violently opposed; and
Third, it is accepted as self-evident.

It really is mom's luck, since dad died she had to come up with a new approach to life.  It is hard for me to imagine how she is coping after the 59 years they had together.  But, she is doing it.  She does have some bad days but she gets through them.  We really had a fabulous time. 8)

I'm not much of a casino gambler. I've also heard the lottery called a tax on the stupid.  I bought one ticket once. Then I read what the odds are.
My name's Jim, I like wood.

Think I'll step in and pull a handle?
Nope! ;)

Casinos offer a dream. We should all have a dream.

I have spent a total of $20 gambling. $10 twice. Both times on large lottery pots.

Lost both times, but the dream was alive.

---

Ever dream about a log, drive over to look, and find the dream is not the reality. You might have spent more on gas on the trip than I spent on lottery tickets.

Warbird

As for the lottery being a "tax on the stupid"...  the people who win sure don't look stupid, do they?  I don't play the lotto (cause we don't have on in Alaska!) but even so, I think it is harsh to call everyone who does 'stupid'.

thedeeredude

Some people say the lottery is a tax for people who failed math class. :D  But if people want to play, I'm not gonna stop em.  I only play if I get the tickets as a gift.  I dont waste my money on lottery tickets.  And Im not old enough to gamble or drink.  And when I am old enough I still wont do either.

fstedy

:) :D ;D :o If the lottery gives a person a little hope thats great as long as you don't try to purchase all the tickets, that when the odds will get you. Like Woodmills Mom you just have to be there at the right time. One ticket is all you need to be in the game. Who knows it might be your time!!! As far as it being a tax their are a lot of sin taxes that people overlook for their enjoyment.
