Tree steps are illegal here on public land. A lot of trees have been ruined by them over the years besides being unsafe for the cutter and miller. We usually mark them as "WL" trees or fall them for grouse drumming logs and leave them since our loggers usually won't care to deal with them.

That and forts. But, I didn't weigh 250 pounds and have to worry about $10,000+ hospitals bills either.  Construction material was anything thrown away in the trash on the street.

Which is the problem building my kids current treehouse, do I use 1x6 on the floor for them or 2x12 for me  ;)

Aint nothing wrong with the way that stair is built , he only needed to put the cleats in before the fall , to bad it happened , but like all things do , Stuff does happen .  :-\
