Hello, This is my first post. I Have an 046 that is about ready for retirement . Was going to get another stihl, but the dolmar 7900 has really caught my eye. I have never ran one and was wondering if anyone has used them  side by side, and how does the 7900 feel compared to the 046 460 ?   THANKS

The 046, while a good saw, is an older model and likely heavier and slower than the new Dolmar.

The 7900 is a bit better than the MS460.  I own both.

Thanks for your reply, I believe I will go with the 7900. Do you have many hours on your 7900?

Captain

Probably 250 hours or so....  We sell 'em (Dolmar) so they don"t hang around long before they are replaced for a newer demo.

Wouldn't the 066 be closer in size to the 7900 than the 046? My bigest problem with Dolmar is dealer service or just finding a dealer. There are Stihl dealers all over the place near me. I did buy the 5100 dolmar at a show last year and like that saw it really runs.

The 046 is very close in displacement to the 7900. Dolmar dealers are scarce  here but the distributor is doing a good job of establishing more, often at the expense of Husqvarna.

The 460 is 76.5cc, and the 7900 79cc, with a bit less weight and more power.

The 660 91.6 or thereabout, so not really comparable.

Thanks for setting me straight on that I thought the 7900 had more cc

Cut4fun

The Dolmar 9010 and Stihl 660 are comparable by cc's.

I have ran both 460 and 7900 and stock I would take the 7900 hands down to any 70cc-79cc saw out there stock.
