Hey everyone!

Does anybody have an Ajax boring machine?  If  anyone does can you tell me about how it works and things you do to maintain it....oil,grease, what to look for, things that could go wrong with it, sharpening those bits, etc.  The one I just bought is fine except for the depth stop is stuck in place and I think its supposed to kick it into reverse when it hits the stop but I'm not sure how it all works. :-\   Any help is greatly appreciated fellas! :)

Check w/ Jim Rogers, he is a timber frame instructor, and has a side business that sells pre-owned (used) boring machines and is also a moderator here. That said there are a bunch of experts here, which I am not, hopefully they will chime in and help.

I believe the Ajax kicks the crank over to the right when it hits the depth stop thereby enguaging the climbing gears.  I'll have to take a look at mine (when I get home) to be sure.  The machine itself requires just basic lubrication and periodic inspection of any bolts, screws etc. to make sure they are snug.
A properly sharpened bit (including the lead screw) is the most important part of the equation.

I can post a couple illustrative pictures or a video on my YouTube channel if you'ld like.
