Login time period Default

I had noticed that sometimes my login seemed to get "hung-up."
In other words, it seemed to me that for no reason I would stay logged in,
when (I thought) I had done nothing to cause that.

Then I realized that I was doing it.

Why is it that the default for normal login is 60 minutes,
but if you log in within a board category (at the bottom of a thread for example)
the default is "forever."  It took me a while to realize this.  I never want to
stay logged in forever, but maybe there is some logic to this ?????

Yes there is some logic to this. The forum server is smart enough to recognize you (or actually your computer) the instant you hit the front door if you remain logged in "forever." After you are inactive for fifteen minutes it considered you gone. So there is no reason to log in and out unless someone else has access to your computer when you are away and they might get you sent to the woodshed while you were away.  :D :D

And no I am not savy enough to know this without Jeff clueing me into this some time back. I am just repeating what he told me.  8)

Good answer Gary. No reason to log out unless you feel someone may access your account on your computer and post or read as you.  You are logged in only on your computer, not here. After 15 minutes of no data transfer, you are considered gone on this end.
