I'm looking at a Timberjack 240 skidder. It has a fresh engine, extended frame, and is only used on weekends.

The only 2 things that aren't so great are this: The tires are getting low( I'm not sure about chains), and the the steering cylinder(s)  should have new pins and bushings sometime in the near future.I don't really know all that is involved, but I think I can do most of the work myself.

My question is what do you guys think a reasonable price is? Is this a good machine in your opinion? He wan'ts $17,500, but I think I can get it for less. I am goin to Nortrax in Bangor today to see what I can find.

Im calling tonight for more info, but I know that the tires are from 25%-50%. Kinda low, but if you put chains on they should last longer.

just do some searching on the web and compare prices. I found my 96 john deere 648E grapple for $12,000 and that included hauling it around 8 hours. All i have had to do is replace some seals on cylinders. There is pitchures of it in my gallery.

$17,500 sounds pretty high to me- what year is this machine? Does it have a Detroit?
Too many irons in the fire

a old timberjack

tires are about 1,900 ea. + tubes and mounting if they are 18.4x34 steering cyl pin and bush are nothing. it only has 1 cyl and if you cramp the machine all the way to the left it is 70% exposed the front pin comes out from under the batteries.also, what year is it????

The year is one thing I am unsure of. It has a fresh 453 detriot with almost no hours on it.

I figured that 17.5 was kinda high, but around here you can't even get a 540B for that. That is what a good 440D runs in these parts.

Keep looking.

Keep checking Uncle Henery's both online and the book.

Also put the word out.  Talk with some truckers.  Talk it up at every saw shop you go by.  There are some bargins, fromthe price of diesel and thw wet summer we had.

They seem to be pretty good, but no prices are listed. I was thinking of giving them a call, but first- what skidder(s) on there would you guys be most interested in? I just want to make sure I get a good machine.
