I've had  this saw for about 8 yrs. now and just noticed the little shutter door inside the carburetor box cover. I've always had it in the summer position and never noticed any difference in the performance. I usually operate the saw between 45&85 degrees F. Could I increase the performance by removing that little shutter all together without hurting the saw? ???

If you remove the shutter, you will allow hot air from around the cylinder to be drawn into the intake. This works great in sub freezing temperatures, but in warm weather it will make your saw run hotter and decrease performance. I live in Florida and have never run any of my saws with the warm air deflector in the winter position, ever.

I guess I'll just leave it alone then, thanks.
