Gary C, I was on the Rhine when Kennedy was shot, we stayed there with full TOE for an extra few days.  11th Engr Group.

That interesting. We did a Rhine river crossing once before that time so perhaps we almost met. We had a little problem during our crossing when something happened and a duce n half started rolling towards a ammo trailer and some guys jumped off on the upstream side. I think at least one drowned.  36th ARB, 3rd AD.

Here is a short clip.

I don't fly much but I did last winter and while waiting at BIA a load of troops arrived, we had the opportunity to say thanks for your service to the country, Thank you all once more.

All of your comments have reminded me of what a young man (college student) from our church posted on his facebook page the other day.  He basically said that he will no longer celebrate Veteran's Day.  Instead, he is going to celebrate St Martin of Tours (who is a person lifted up by some as the father of extreme pacifism today).  He went on to say a bunch of other stuff that went right up to the point of demeaning our soldier's sacrifices.  I tell you...  I really had to bite my tongue.

I wanted to outright tell him that his view and all of the freedoms he enjoys today are a luxury granted to him by the blood of the soldiers he has chosen to no longer celebrate.  I tried to word it a bit better to him but it does not appear to have made a dent.  Honestly, sometimes it feels like the majority of my countrymen are a bunch of spoiled people who have no clue about real hardships.  They take for granted things that were bought with the blood of true patriots, and then they spit on the very ideals that got them what they have today.

Well, I should shut up now, lest this gets moved to the Restricted Board.  If this is out of place, feel free to delete it.

You guys who served our country have my gratitude and respect.  And those who made the ultimate sacrifice have my utmost admiration and thanks.  I will not say "happy" Veteran's Day but instead, will just say "thanks".

I remember the grief bestowed upon the returning vets of the 60's...

today their are more complete strangers saying thank you out of the clear blue then there use to be...

way many more positive over negatives...

so things just may be looking up...

Thanks to all of our Veterans, not just today.....but EVERYDAY smiley_clapping

My feelings exactly.  Yesterday was a busy day.  It was started by going to  a Veteran's Day Program at my child's  school.  All the kids wore flags, and sang patriotic songs honoring all veterans and public servants.  It was a wonderful thing to see.  It made me wonder how many school in today's USA have similar programs?  Personally, I think they should be mandatory nationwide.
