Was wondering if anyone has tried using another method of sawing lumber using Digimag Digital Remote Readouts or similar devices on there manual mills intead of the scale that is mounted. I am like some others who have a hard time of keeping up of where i am or was at. I guess its the age thing. Thanks in advance.

Bill, looked at your gallery and that's a very nice mill. Is it a Linn design? Are you hoping for a read-out that tells you where the top of the cant is / last cut was?
Life is too short or my list is too long, not sure which. Dec 2014

r.man, thanks for the complement. Just cut my first logs the other day sence i painted it. Didnt get any photos of the hickory that i saw and stickered before it started rainning on me. But i guess everybody has see sawn logs before. I just cut for my own use for what ever comes up. Do some for friends and family and thats about it , but i enjoy sawing lumber even on a small scale.
The saw has W/M wheels and rollers. I use W/M Dura Hard blades 1 1/4 x 158". They work very good. I guess its a cross between a LT 10 and a LT15.

I forgot to say yes about the read out question.

Be sure the scale provides absolute readings.  That is a method that each position on the scale has a unique address (just like a city street).  There are some digital scales that just count up or down.  Those will not work reliably on a sawmill.

I used a table saw style on my Mighty Mite, but found the housing was not rugged enough.  It worked find, I learned that the manual scale was just as accurate.  What I really needed was to adjust the flow rate of the hydraulic setworks.  Soon as I had that accomplished I didn't need the digital.
