I have a potential customer that wants (8) 4x4x8'-0" and 2x4x8'-0" for framing a screened in porch. How important is it cut the 4x4's with the heartwood included? I only have (7) white pine logs 8'-5" long ranging from 13-16" in diameter. There are existing structural posts to support the roof that he will frame around. Is the heartwood needed for structural reasons?

I wouldn't think it would matter as long as the posts are straight.  Since this is a porch, will he be treating the posts?

No. He will be staining the wood to match the cabin. The wood will not come in contact with the ground or concrete.

I wouldn't worry about heart/sap wood.  Either will provide the structural strength for that project.
