Kinda, back here in this thread.

https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php/topic,47259.0.html

Basically, I drew up the outline I needed to carve out of the butternut. Then, carved out the butternut inlay shape with sharp carving tools. And I cut thin slices on my band saw for, walnut, cherry and birch. Then I cut the star corners out of those pieces, sometimes requiring a little touch up with the sanding table. Checked them for fit and depth in the inlay. Glued them up and sanded smooth and flush. I think the wood pieces started out as 3/16" or maybe 1/8" and probably ended up 1/16" when the medallion is sanded smooth and flush. I left the butternut about 1/16" thicker than the hole it sits in the cherry so everything would sand nice and flush with the cabinet top.  Always nice to have a little extra thickness to work with. ;)

There are other approaches, but my veneers where a bit thick so those methods would be difficult. Gotta work with what you have at times. ;D

Well, I've been putting my finishes on the cabinet and now I put in the glass shelves tonight, 8 mm.

This is the bracket used to mount the shelving. They have suction cups on the underside of the glass surface and can take up to 1/4" thick glass. Actually they can take a little thicker but I thick manufacturer recommendation at Lee Valley was for 1/4" or less. They are nice brackets. ;D

Putting the doors on tomorrow afternoon. Need one more coat of finish on the inside of them.

Looks great SD, really like the glass shelve in it.

Those doors sure show a major optical illusion. They are not beveled or raised in any way, but it sure does look it. :D :D
