Does anyone wipe down the outside of their stove.         If anyone does what breaks down the soot the best without damaging the paint on the metal siding?        any  suggestions?     The stove is a E-1450            it is outside I guess I should not assume everyone knows that
Thanks Jack

Baking soda and water takes off light layers of creosote. Doesn't appear to bother the paint on my Portage and Main. You getting plenty of hot water for momma still?

Do not use oven cleaner on your furnace - don't ask me how i know this!!  I use use stove polish on the airtight napolean and high heat paint on the pacific energy airtight.  Both work well.

Okay thanks everyone         I think Menards sells a few fireplace cleaners made by Rutland Ive used the glass cleaner on my glass for my fireplace and that seems to work good.     Ive never used the stove cleaner though.        Thanks for your replies   everyone.

And yes Marty  Ive think I may have figured it out by adding that recir pump on the bottom of the exchanger   I have 120 degree water down at the bottom of the heater  were good
And Momma is happy  When she is happy we are all happy    Its not good when you have a angry red head   Thanks  Jack

On my E Classic 2300 I've used 2 products...Simple Green which is an all purpose cleaner and also Gunk which you can find at an automotive parts store.  Both required a little "elbow grease" but with some work I was able to clean the stove.

I have been burning a Classic and now Eclassic for over 10 years and have been keeping the front of my furnace looking like new with just an end of season cleaning. The best product I've ever found is Fireball citrus cleaner. Here is the link to where I buy it.

Simple Green and a power washer does the job for you! :)

----- I'd suggest you move it outside if you're going to power wash it . Makes things kind of soggy  .

I've always used Rubbermaid Super Degreaser and Cleaner on my E2300 and has always done an awesome job.  Always goes on sale at local Menards for $1.99 for a 32 oz. spray bottle.

I saw that at Menards I actually had it in my hands I put it back after I read the bottle and it said not to use on painted surface I know that its actually a panel and not painted but I was nervous about using it       If it works for you I will get some

Thanks Jim

a damp rag dipped in stove ash cleans the smoke stain right off, do the same thing on the glass on pellet stoves  :)

That is a good trick I've learned as well. The glass on the doors of the Vermont Casting Defiant can get smoke stained and this works (best if done often before it gets baked on over time).
