Wood Mizer lt30

In our constantly searching for a saw mill we found a used lt30 not far from us. 1986 with 500 hours, 18 hp with log deck package. Looked in real good shape with just some surface rust. Looked like a light sanding and paint would be pretty easy. He was asking $8,000. What do you guys think about the price? It is registered with WM and comes with about 40 blades, used.

That seems a bit strong for that old of a mill.

there was a lt30 on the woodmizer site that was about 5 years old for 8,900.back in the winter,just make him an offer the most he can say is no,it looks like it is all manual.

I'm thinking closer to 7K.

Do you need to be mobile? if not I'd think LT15 and this looks like a good deal @3900 asking price:

That first mill, the one for $8000 has only 480 hours on it.

and I think it comes with 50 blades.

I do know that guy, I sold him tools. He's moving to VT and can't take the mill with him.

With 500 hours nothing should be wore out, maybe some sticky bearings. Plus 50 blades. Steve

26 years old, you can buy a brand new wm lt28 with 25hp motor for a few thousand more.

He is on vacation now, sent him an offer for $7,000. He was a really nice guy, showed us everything about the mill. He had nothing but great things to say about woodmizer. Said there customer service was incredible. I will let you know how we make out.

On another note. When I go on the WM site i can't get the configurator to work, no matter what browser I use.

So I offered him $7000 and he said he would take $7500 wich I agreed to. Picking up the mill on Monday, pretty excited. Will take pictures. It has light surface rust, should we consider painting? I would imagine WM has paint available to consumers and possibly decal kits.

Congrats are in order for you becoming a new WM owner. I know that you put a lot of thought into it and you will be OK. Quality sawmills just do not get old and fall apart. Yes, you will have some items that will need attention, but they can all be taken care of. Be sure to get the owner's manuals and read and understand each page and each paragraph.

I would get the sawmill serial# and the owner's customer# and give WM a call before any money changes hand. 1-800-525-8100 The owner will understand and if he has a problem with that, then there could be a problem. You can then register it with WM and get your own customer#.

Yes, WM has paint.

Monday getting here kinda slow? Been around a sawmill before? What's all the lumber going to be used for? Get a Log Rite peavey,cant dog and yep will be ready to turn some logs.

Hired a guy to saw boards a few years ago, always wanted on since. We have 4 friends going in on it. Good bunch of guys, we have shared equipment before and it worked out very well. I have peavey sticks. I saw you have a thomas sawmill, that was on our list if we couldn't find a used mill. We have a lot of white pines and red oaks. Sawing lumber for a few outbuildings and having my son cut boards for small sheds I will build with him. Probably won't make much money if any but I hope to teach my son how to build things. We are old school swamp yankees, like to do everything ourselves using odds and ends we have saved.

Picked up the mill today and registerd it with woodmizer. will post pictures soon as I figure out how, tried to copy one from the add in craigslist and it didn't work out so good. Sorry about that, I know you can't post adds from there, thought I was posting a link for a picture

Sounds like you came out well on the deal. It'll take you a while to get through the 50 blades, but if they're valued at $40 each, that puts you $2k ahead of the game to start with. I've had good luck with WM's sharpening, but I'd turn down the offer to replace damaged blades with new ones until you get down to a dozen or so. Good luck with the mill!

Wood-Mizer blades for an LT30 don't cost $40.00.

They run about $21-$22 each +tax.

Ordered 15 blades today, 10s They told me they would work the best for white pine and red oak. Changed the oil, filter and spark plugs today. Had to order the air cleaner, wasn't in stock. We hope to cut a log at a friends house monday evening. It is about 30 inches and very long, he just wants to get rid of it, there is a lot of white pine around here.
