hi clam77 , customsawer ,
was thinking just going from a 20 inch bar to aprox 26 inch bar as i have 2 large trunks aprox 48 inches across to cut up = each trunk aprox 15 / 20 feet in length and thats a lot of fire wood ,so the 26 inch bar would make things easier , also then i would have the 2 bars as my own , but i think to go over that size on this size saw would be working it harder than it should be , other option is higher a large saw for the day to cut these 2 trunks up , and as customsawer said a skip chain would be the way to go i think , will be speaking with my stihl dealer this coming week so will get his recomendations of him .
cheers guys

Should pull a 26" bar perfectly OK as long as you don't try and push it too hard. I run a 28" on my Dolmar 7900, which has slightly more power, but only just.  That's the longest Standard bar my say comes with, but you can push the manufacturers size a little.

Anyway I wouldn't hesitate to run a 26" bar on that saw if you need to. Keep it sharp and it will cut fine. More than 26", a skip chain would be worth considering.

30" is directly off the Stihl website - it actually says 75cm... which is 29.5"... but 30" is close enough.    :D
