Hi from another part of the world :)

Dear friends can you tell me wich saw is most popular and most used in USA ? woodmizer or somthing what we know as "Grizzly" by LMCA ltd ( Lumber Machinery Company of America) http://www.grizly.ru/product/grizzly.shtml

For what is beter woodmizer and for what grizzly ?

Thanks, friends  ;)

BBTom

Woodmizer is the best selling small sawmill in the world, followed by used Woodmizers.  I do not believe that the Grizly you are talking about is sold in North America.  It does look like it works like one of our Mobile Dimension mills.  IF it does, then they are excellent for making construction lumber.  The Woodmizer bandmill is better suited to making wide boards or hardwood lumber for woodworking.

I know that both can be used for either and many people do it. The statement I just made is my own opinion on which type of mill is most suitable for what product.

Welcome to the forum, rerednaw.  You will find great information and help here.  What kind of trees would you be milling and for what purpose?

  Welcome to the Forum, Rerednaw.

Boy, that sure looks like two Mobile Dimension Mills.  It looks fromthe site you gave us to look at that it is made in Russia, some place.  The blades look different in design and tooth count as well as the color. Sure wish it was written in English.  I never got no other learn'en in some other linggo. :D

It reminds me of the saw built by Duncan Iron Works on Vancouver Island BC.

I talked to a DIW owner in Washington State that refit their mill to be able to pull a 12x16" cant out in a single pass.

I saw pine, alder and oak. We produce glued finger jointed board from it. and i need square edged timber for it. and this grizzly can produce square edged board. On this company site i read what they produse grizzly by licension of LMCA ltd. Anybody in USA know this company ? As i read in www first model of grizly sold in USA 45 years ago :)
PS: this is another grizzly variation - bars. in eng lang
http://www.npobars.ru/eng/index.html
PSS: I think what better and faster for square edged board is grizzly, but it rarely used in Russia (compare with woodmizer).
And i dont know why... maybe becose this machine and saw principle realezed in it is bad or maybe becose nobody dont know about this super good machine :)

I know for a fact that www.MobileManufacturing.com has sold a very large number of  mills in Russia of the last 10 or 15 years and still sell to that area of the world.  They are a very worthwhile dimensional lumber producer.

From the Bars website:  "The variability of saw-milling.
The instantaneous reinstallation of lumber in the digital form from the control panel, ensures the maximum flexibility according to the nomenclature of lumber taking into account the special features of the sawn log." ???  :P

Ahh... Reminds me ;D of some of the papers I wrote back in school
Heritage Horselogging & Lumber Co.
"Surgical removal of standing timber, Leaving a Heritage of timber for tommorow. "

Tom

Horselogger,  I read that thing three times and still don't know what it said. ???  If you've been writing that stuff since school, you're a better man than me. :D

Paul!   I don't believe you actually stooped so low as to come up with a pun like that.  "let me be Frank".  Sheez!! :D :D

Tom,
It's the short days and the lack of light that makes me do it :PIt's gonna get worse by the looks of our weather forecast

As soon as the weather breaks,I'm going to start building a Grit arbor for the side of the house :D

what you opiniom about www.doublecut.com ? Is it well know good company ?

Tom

They are one of our treasured Sponsors.  Look at the list on the left margin of the page.

I've heard good things about their mill and nothing bad.  I've met the employees and owners of the company and am impressed with their down-to-earth attitude.  They are pleasant, humorous, hard working and appear to be honest to a fault.  You'll find the other sponsors of The Forestry Forum to be much the same too.  I guess we attract the best of the best.  ..........and that includes members too. :D

Thank You Sponsors!
