A bit of spalted aspen I finished for a wrought iron expandable plant stand--- 3 coats of poly ease the color nicely on this rocky mountain aspen.

Good look'in dog in your picture Levi.

I didn't know a fella could spalt aspen--- I can make BS logs--- but I have to search for the aspen.

I find splating in aspens that are blow downs that have been layed over for 1-3 years and the roots keep the tree up off the ground and out of the snow. As far as I know--- its just get'in them to the mill between when their green and before they rot.

A unique piece for sure. I think mixing materials such as wrought iron and wood can make a piece such as this far more interesting. It obviously worked on this one.
