Hey all. I've noticed when running my mill the blade doesn't seem right to me. It look like it's not welded straight. It moves back and forth on both wheels. I think it also affects the tension and causes quite a bit of shake on the blade.. thoughts? I'll try to attach a YouTube video..

Why buy it when you can build it.

How old is it, they do that when they're cracked and ready to break. A misaligned weld would do that also.  Steve

If it has been "snagged" on the log sometime can slightly stretch one area to cause an oscillating blade.

It is brand new. Never touched a log.

Looks defective to me. Got another blade? Try it and see if it runs any better.

I had one like that a couple of years ago!

When the blade was welded, the ends of the blade were off 1/16"!

Took it off of the mill right away, then took it to Wood-Mizer Hannibal on my next trip down and I explained why I brought it back and it was replaced with another new one!

No complaints from either party!  ;)

Thanks all..

This is my first, one and only blade. I put a straight edge across the weld and there is a gap there..  I'll contact WM and see how they want to handle..

I had gotten quite a few blades with poor welds from Woodmizer last summer. Apparently they couldn't keep up with the demand for blades and some may have been rushed. They fixed them up for me no problem. I'm sure they'll do the same for you :)

I would not say that the welding process was rushed because there is nothing to rush.  It is all automated with the operator moving the blade from station to station.  The blade serial# will track back to the welding machine and operator but actually the operator has no control over the weld.  He inserts the two ends and closes the hatch and the welding process is automatic.  He then takes the welded blade out of the welder and clamps it in the grinder, again automatic.

A poor weld or a misaligned welding machine are rare but it does happen.  I once had an entire box of 10 blades that broke in the weld.  All were replaced free by Resharp.

I would have loved to have made a video, but no pictures are allowed.
