I have a logosol M7 and currently run a 066 on it.

In the bigger oaks, that I have a large supply of, the 66 is just to slow.  I am considering stepping up to a 3120 to pick up a little speed.  I used to think the 66 was fast enough, but you know how opinions change. ( maybe the 25 lbs I've lost has something to do with that )  Will I gain any speed with more cc's??

For those in the know, would having the saw mod'd be a good idea? What can I hope to gain by mod'n the 66 for milling only?  ( Dan ??,  EHP ??, others?? )

Money isn't a huge consideration, but I'd like to measure what I would gain against the $$$.

Thanks in advance.

yes modding your 066 will make it cut faster but if money is not a real problem I would get a modded 088, now you are talking power and it can handle the heat

ehp,

Thanks for the response...  modded 88 ?

HMMMMMM.    modded 88 over a modded 3120??

Can I use the same bars from my 66's with the 88?? I think I remember reading someplace that 88's took a different bar design... course I could be wrong...  and It doesn't really matter I guess.

I was considering trying some .325 to see if I pick up anything there.

The bar mount is different on a 066 to the 088.
if you were racing using alcohol then yes go with the 3120 but in a woodsported mod the 088 will beat the 3120 everytime, it has more torque , rpm's , a stronger crank  , just a better saw for the job in my mind

Thanks for the info ehp.

I'll be looking into that 88.

I've never had a saw modded so dare I ask the aprox cost ?  Maybe thats not an appropriate question for the forum.  PM me if you don't mind.

You need to look into skip chain for that bar first. Yes they make it and Bailey's 1-800-322-4539 or Granberg 1-866-233-6499 would have if it is still around.
