I have a Pro Mac 700 with spark issues. I have tried a new coil, new plug, checked the flywheel gap, unplugged the kill switch. Seems like I've tried everything. Any other ideas would be welcome.

You say 'new' coil. How new is 'new'? Does it work on another saw? Did you clean and gap the points at .020"?

No points. Brand new. I don't have another saw to test it on.

It will have points behind the flywheel.

As general info the early model 700's could be either points type or solid state ignitions .The later models I think after 1987 were all solid state . A points type coil will not work on a pointless system.A pointless system has one wire coming off the coil to the kill switch while a points type will have two,one going to the points.

Of all the Macs I've wrenched on I've never seen a faulty 10 series points type coil .This very same coil was used on the large 125 C redwood slayers of a bygone era.
