Bigger sprocket on a modded saw

I have a Husky 372 that has some porting and a muffler mod.Has anybody jumped up to an 8 pin sprocket on this saw ? Does it have the power to spin it quicker than  7 pin.Also what about the standard 72 driver chain fitting ? Thanks

The rims are cheap, so just try the options yourself. Don't just go by advice from others - people, saws and wood are all different, so there isn't any truth carved in stone.

Normally, a 72dl chain will still fit with an 8-pin.

Like SawTroll says rims are cheap  and only you can decide what works for you.
Just like shifting gears in your vehicle

I run 8 tooth rims on both my 372 and 2188. In big wood just leave the depth gauges at 20-25 thousandths. The 72 driver chain will fit fine.

Well I guess I will see if the dealer has one and will report back here.I was more worried that the chain would not fit.

Just picked up an 8 pin for my modded 372xt.  Haven't run it yet but as stated above, the chain fits as it should.

Seen my old post and figure I'd finally report back. An 8 pin sprocket works fin with a 72 driver chain and I cut some pretty big hardwood with it and it cuts right through it. Will never go back to a 7 pin sprocket. Also put an 8 pin on my 394 with a 28" chain and fits just fine and speeds things up a little also.
