Not to beat a dead horse, but you would be better off to find out the specs on what the belt should be and get a tensiometer to be able to set it properly.  Too tight and you can break the engine crank, too loose and it will cause band speed to vary and create problems.  I check mine weekly and usually have to adjust it.
This is a good point and I should probably be more technical about it but I've been a mechanic my whole life and have a pretty good feel for belt tension...not that I can't still make mistakes.

I talked to Brand B and they're going to swap out my box of blades. I don't know if I'll ever hear if they do/don't find something wrong with the ones I'm sending back. I hope there's something obvious to them when they check them.

Last night I was milling up another pine log. I've been using my Brand A blades without problem. I had to chainsaw this 42" log into quarters before putting it on the mill. I sawed half of it without problem with a Brand A blade. When it got dull I decided to try another new blade from Brand B just to be sure. I only made one cut with it. The waves were more than I was comfortable with and I had to cut a bit slower. Put a resharpened Brand A blade on and finished without trouble.

Make sure they don't send replacement blades off the same roll.  Steve

If you buy bands from a vendor, then again weeks or even days later, what are the odds you get bands from the same roll?  If you do, they dont sell many blades.
I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

I happened to me, I got a bad box of 10 ,then 3 or 4 months later thinking that roll would be used up I ordered the same blades and got another bad box.  That roll wasn't used up yet.  This was from a smaller local shop  and those rolls are big when they get them.  Steve

As I mentioned in my last post Brand B agreed to swap out the box of blades. I heard back from them today and they couldn't find any problems with the returned blades, which is disappointing because I hate to think I overlooked something and made extra work for everyone.

In the mean time I'd resharpened a bunch of the Brand A blades and continued sawing without issue. Unfortunately winter arrived the same day the replacement Brand B blades did so I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. But summer has returned for a short while this week so I'm hopeful to give the new ones a try.

I think when every thing else looks good and the don't cut good they aren't  tensioned right.  Steve

Yesterday was the big day. Tossed a 10' walnut (with crotch) on the mill yesterday for slabbing. First few cuts were made with my last sharpened (but already used) Brand A blade so when it dulled I installed one of the new Brand B blades and.......it cut flat and fast! Very relieved.

I've made no changes whatsoever to mill since using the last batch and am running the same blade tension.

Good to hear , just a bad roll of blade stock weather brand B admits it or not.  Steve
