Good morning members. Yesterday I was dubbing around with my 1960 jd 420 crawler and noticed a slow but persistent drip---drip of fuel coming from where the glass fuel bowl assembly threads into the tank. I am thinking to buy a new assembly and my question is this. Can I use teflon tape/ pipe dope on the threads or being gasoline do I need to use something else?

I've used " gasoila " a dope rated for gasoline. Not sure but think there is a Teflon tape rated gasoline as well.

Yellow Teflon tape is stable for gas I think. Good luck

The threads make the interference seal. dope and teflon are just to reduce friction long enough to get the thing cranked in.  If it leaks your threads are the issue.
