This week seemed like a marathon to me had two master logger programs then a meeting for the whole state ran from Western Ohio to Eastern Ohio leaving at noon yesturday . Left over there around eight things were looking pretty good had avoided all the rutting deer but around fifty miles from home battery light came on and i knew I wouldn't make it home so I pulled over and the truck died. Battery was almost dead and wouldn't even turn over. I have road help so I called and everything was a machine then I finaley got some one and he was from India my guess after about forthy five minuites he told me he had found a wreaker service but it would be two and half hours before they could get there. So I told him to cancell that and called my wife and she ran down to my location , transfered my equipment from the bed and tools to her suv.  It was three thirty when I crawled into bed . Got up at seven ran back down there with a local roll off truck and brought it home. Charged the battery's and tried the engine it acted like something was so tight it would not turn over hardly. Took the belt off and tried it again and she fired up. The aldernator pulley was like someone had welded it fast to the mounting bracket. So tomarrow the day is always layed out' life is good  ;D

At least it's only the alternator which is not a horribly expensive or difficult fix. Had it been squealing a warning? Being broke down late at night is a terrible feeling.

Autocar,

Sorry for your misfortune. Glad it looks to be a relatively simple fix. I think the same call center doing your breakdown service is handling my internet service issues. Sounds like the same clerk on the other end.

I had a grand cherokee that the alternator went and took the PCM with it. It really did not make me happy. went from $300 to $1700 bill.

I also learned recently on the newer vehicles when changing your battery or alternator you need to reprogram something in the vehicle. My wifes toyota highlander needed a battery and it was about a 30 minute process to learn and program then change the battery and do it again. If you do not do the correct process the powered rear hatch will open to the point it rips the hinges out of the sheet metal.

Gotta love modern technology.
