What's the going rate for 8/4 red oak trailer decking. Air dried.
Change is hard....
Especially when a jar full of it falls off the top shelf and hits your head!

Up here I've been at $1.50 a board foot on red oak decking, green off the mill.

$1.50 off sticks. $2,00 for w/o if I have it.

Thanks guys. 1.50 is what I was thinking so that confirms it.

I'm going to guess my logs are a bit higher than most. Mine starts at $2.50 up to 8" wide and 16' long. Wider or longer is higher. This is green off the mill.

What is the most useful size aside from the 8/4 for trailer decking?  I am expecting to get some white oak for a project here but will have extra and might cut it up for trailer deck to sell.  The log is 10'+ long and 22" dia.  Is 6" wide the standard?  8"?  Is 10' too short to be useful, assuming the deck planks run lengthwise?

I would think most 10' trailers don't need 8/4 decking.  I sold 4/4 green white oak to a guy for a 10' trailer.

When I sold trailer decking in Northern MA, I made them all different sizes and thickness depending on what the customer needed for his trailer.
My advice to you would be to cut those logs into the largest cant you can get and just set them aside until you get an order. Then bring them back to the mill and make the planks you'll need to fill the order.
Good luck with your projects.

Treated radius edged decking (5/4 x 6").. good product for small trailers. Untreated of that size/thickness in rough-sawn should also work good. Size of knots most limiting factor.
