Good morning everyone!

I am in the process of building my 12th cabin for rental purposes and trying to figure out the best way to preserve the cedar siding we are using (beveled siding).  On the log cabins we use stain with a clear coat, but I am not sure that is the best thing to do on cedar siding.

I am going to assure you stain it, but any top coat after that?  Anyone have a product that they like and have good luck with?  I have used permachink products in the past, but in the past few years have not been super crazy about their durability.

Thanks for all the help!

'Sikkens Cetol Log and Siding' is what I would recommend. I used it on the exterior cedar on a cabin exposed to fairly extreme weather five years ago and it still looks like the day I put it on. Also applied this product to a cedar outdoor pergola, a pine timber canopy, deck railing, etc. Held up well in all cases. Follow the application instructions - two coats only; let dry in between coats - this is important.

Isn't Sikkens Cetol now only sold as PPQ ProLuxe?
Peterson 10" WPF with 65' of track
Smith - Gallagher dedicated slabber
Tom's 3638D Baker band mill
and a mix of log handling heavy equipment.

That's what we use here. We have a lot of exterior cedar. Just sprayed 7 gallons this spring.

Went with a grayco that would do 5 gallon containers under it.  Bet money I've  spent  in a long time. Tammy and I stained the whole house,  fence and a bunch of stuff in one long day.
