As the photo shows the buttons on my acuset 2 are starting to crack. Everything still works. But I am worried about moisture getting in. It is a first edition acuset 2  so I would have to replace the whole thing not just the screen. $900.00 Canadian. I wonder if any one else had this problem and how they dealt with it. My thought is to take a screen saver for a phone or tablet and cut a strip to glue over the cracked buttons.

I don't think screen saver material would work. They are designed to be adhered to smooth, nearly flawless glass screens. If it were mine, I might try automotive grade clear protective film, like you put on the edges of car doors or a car's door sill. Here is an example:

Robot Check

It is sold in different sizes depending on your application.

jeepcj779 Thanks that might work better. With the screen saver I thought contact cement around the edges might hold it.

A roll of that stuff costs less than a screen protector anyway. Good Luck.

Pretty sure WM sells just the face cover as I seem to remember others replacing it.  Give them a call.

I replaced the face on my older Setworks and the face included the foil switches.  I had to replace it because one of the foil switches had failed.

Here is the old face coming off.  The silver dots are the foil switches.

The face is off and the front panel is ready to be cleaned.

The ribbon cable on the right feeds the front face.

  A happy front panel.

Since you only have cracked buttons my first option would be the protective tape.  I would think that if moisture enters the cracked button face you could have a switch failure.  I see nothing to loose but your buttons might loose some sensitivity.

Thank for the advice The first thing I did was call woodmizer. They are the ones that told me to check what version I had. As the first is a solid unit and the whole thing needs to be replaced. I have a concern about putting something with a glue or sticky surface directly over the buttons over concern of it causing them to break down and damage     the switch more.
jeep779 I have screen savers left over from older phones that don't work

Call woodmizer tomorrow to find out your options.

Probably not what you want to hear but at 9 years in (2010), I upgraded a 2001 LT40 Super Accuset 1 to Accuset 2.  This is when the upgrade cost only about $1400.  The increase in speed and functionality with Accuset 2 was surprising and well worth the upgrade cost to me.

Terrificttimbersllc the  first thing I did was call Woodmizer Atlantic They told me to call Woodmizer Canada. They told me to check what version I had as the first ones they made are a one piece unit. I checked and saw this is what I have. When I am at my mill I will take a photo of the inside so other owners will know what to look for if they have this problem. I thought I would check and see if any one had tried a work around this. As it still works and it won't cost anything I will try  something to get more use out of it  before spending the money on a new one.

I guess the screen savers you already have are cheaper than the protective tape you don't have. I will say that the protective tape is designed for automotive applications and are probably better suited to holding up in extreme weather conditions than screen savers. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks jeepcj779 I only use my mill a few days a month and only when I want not have to . When not in use it is covered. I have some 6 inch wide tape for repairing green houses that is uv resistant that I might try.
