Looking at pictures of old Tj and can not make out model. It has a 3 spool valve in front of seat, a metal cover to right with a lever sticking up. A Hercules winch with a hyd ram on the side and a lever on gearbox in front of it. A exhaust toward the left side and seat on the left. Maybe old Ford diesel? No side protection, just pipe sweeps and roof. Grab bar in front of valve body. It is a hike for me so would like to know before I travel.

205? About what year? Had not heard of a 205 before, but there is a lot I have not seen.  Likely a Ford? or Perkins? Thanks

Jeff

Looks like the mid 70s 202 I used to drive in the early 80s, but that was a long time ago. Liked the gee-haw steering.

Mid 60s probably looks like it has a one piece hood they went to the 3 piece hood at some point in the late 60s I think. Likely a ford diesel. If it was a ford gas it would be called a 200 I think. Similar specs to a 207 or 208 but older machine

So a 202 or 205 run the same frame as a 208,207? Foot area  looks tight in pic. Other than Rockwell's the good and bad? Would the frame be the same as a 225 also. What would the lever in front of winch do? Can not think you could reach it from the cab area.

Never seen a 202 but a 205 and 207 I'm pretty sure have the same frame and axles the 208's I've seen had the newer larger cab which came out mid 70s not saying they didn't make a small cab 208 idk. I'm pretty sure frame wise 205 207 208 225 are are about the same. Differences are in axles and engines. Probably the lever is to take the pto out of gear on the transfer case. Most people either took the lever off or the later ones didn't come with it my 79 225d you can shift the pto out of gear with a pair of needle nose but the lever is long gone

So with my pair of 13s will I fit? Is the seat of the older ones off set to the left more?

Maine logger88

Seat is in the same spot and as much leg room but less width the old ones originally weren't very closed in on the left which I would want it closed in as much as possible and when you close in the small cab skidders if your wide across the shoulders like I am my left shoulder is against the cage. The newer ones basically had 6 or 8 inches more room to the left and were closed in from the factory

I do not see a park brake? They did have one right? Or is that the lever between the 3 and gear shift?

Maine logger88

Those old ones only had a mico lock for a park break which can't be trusted. Timberjack did offer a free kit to install on the older ones tho and most people did it. That one I don't see one in the pics I just see the shifter forward reverse lever and the transfer case lever

Well drove 9 hours to go look. Ny roads stink. In the end it stayed in Ct. Just to much for a fair amount of work to do on it.

My daughter is 9.  Last summer i was still dodging some of the same tire shredding killer potholes as when she was in a car carrier.  81 through some of PA is similar.  Those roads will waller your kingpins.

Funny the trip from home to camp,250 mi., all in n.y. the roads are almost perfect. You can go 100 and some people do. Makes you wonder how some roads are let go and others get done over before they need it.
