Does anyone have experience with Michigan loaders? I picked up a 1970 Michigan 55 loader with a clark transmission at a great price. I am sure it is low on transmission oil but for the life of me I cannot find where you check the oil. Inside the cab by the seat there is plug on a filler tube but no dipstick, is this where you add oil? Is is possible because of the late year, oil is checked using the inspection plug on side of transmission?? Need some help on this one.
Thanks

Those need oil to run??  ;D  Is the transmission oil tied into the hydraulic oil system by chance?  The Clark power shift in my skidder is.

I wondered if perhaps the hydraulic was tied into the transmission. Hydraulic oil is full, however on the bottom of the transmission there is a couple drops of red ATF. So somewhere there must be a place to add tyranny oil. I will post a couple pics tomorrow

Thanks Satamax,
It is looking more like the plug in filler tube I see next to the seat is the transmission fill except the dipstick is gone.

Has been sitting inside a building and not used since 2006. It was one of the machines working at a plywood mill that has now closed. This is the reason for plywood forks on it. Found out where to add tranny oil. Put 2 gallons in and solved the problem instantly.  Haven't found anything majorly wrong with it. Love the sound of the screaming Jimmy.

That is an awesome mast layout for visibility.  Waaay better than having the stupid single curl cylinder and huge rocker right in your way.

I could barely see anything on the kawasaki or volvo in certain circumstances.

Dont know if you figured the trans fluid out so......crawl under the loader to the rear of the trans.  Look at the back of the trans several inches up from the bottom you will see a plug.  Maybe even see two, level with each other.  You put oil in until it runs out the lowest plug.  I also have one of those so if there is anything I can help you with just PM me.
