I'd love to push a button to reset the hour meter for incremental hours for blade changes, etc. I've tried several methods off the total hours but I keep messing up with the log. Esp with time between cutting. Does anyone have or know of a replacement hour meter that can do total and reset able accumulated hours that would fit in the panel? (LT50)

Interesting timing and concept. I'd think of it as a trip meter vs your regular odometer and I could see some useful applications. I'm hoping some genius here suggests a simple way to add another simple meter that we can reset at will.

Last week I sawed for a customer who had his partner off-bearing for me. Turns out the partner had a mill just like mine and he was frustrated he could not reset his hour meter. In his case, several times, he had accidentally left the switch on long enough to actually kill the battery and have to reset the SimpleSet. Of course the whole time the switch was on the hour meter was running even though the engine was not. I am pretty anal about mine and only have the switch on when I am running the engine. I use the auxiliary position to move the head around such as at set up and breakdown.

I use a hand held stop watch for timing my blade use. I stop it when not sawing, off loading lumber, loading logs, or any other non sawing work at the mill.

I kinda like some of yousalls thinking.
I think we need three hour meters.
1 as currently used
a 2nd  to time sawing time.  I have the electric clutch.  could it be activated when the blade in engaged from that switch?
a 3rd  to time run time on a job site.
The latter two need to be resettable.

I'll see how it works. I still like the idea of one the triggers the hour meter from vibration. I have shut down my Kubota a few times in years past without turning the key to OFF. That really screws up the maintenance intervals.... Its so old it doesn't hurt to have and occasional early oil change.

A typical solution to that would be to wire the hourmeter through a switch that is only closed when there is oil pressure.

I eat once a day - at supper (evening). She rips me continuously but that's how its been for 40 years. If I eat earlier I go to sleep. Lunch time opportunities could be a squirrel for supper. Besides, they are raping out garden at night. We should get some return.

I think this is a great idea. I just ordered one too. Your link had an asian supplier, I found one in the US. If you ordered from that link you may not see it until the end of September, but with the current US mail, I may not see mine any sooner. >:( The last couple of things I bought that were shipped USPS took weeks to get here from just one state away. One was 22 days, 2 states away.

Warning, warning, warning. I've had spam calls mostly disappear for the last year until the last few days. Since I ordered this hour meter which ships from across the water I have have a BUNCH of spam calls. Nothing has changed - only that transaction.

Well yesterday I had a few minutes and I put that meter on the mill. Worked as advertised and I am happy with it. Nothing showing on the hour meter yet and I didn't spend much time playing with it, as other things were going on. I mounted it where I can see it most of the time. Thanks for the idea!

Just another follow up. I got in a full day yesterday and I found it interesting to correlate the subtle changes in engine sound to the RPM showing on the meter. It helped re-enforce what I am seeing and feeling. My lumber I think came out a little better because I could adjust my pushing speed pretty quick when there was a drop of more than 100 RPM. It's a helpful little tool on a small engine mill.
Also of interest is that for all the work I did, there was only 2.1 hours showing on the meter. A little surprise for me there too. Makes me think about where my time is being spent.
@JRHill did yours ever show up?

I just ordered a hour meter/tach on ebay.  it will be nice to monitor the rpms.  might show you when your tension is low or belts start to wear down based on more or less rpms.  plus the hour meter for maintenance that can be set up for what you want is cool.
