I've got an oak in my yard, not sure if it's red or white.  Very young less than 10 years old I think. It's split three ways and actually from what I see it's like three separate trunks.  I'm planning on never cutting it in my lifetime I'm just wondering what the advice is on pruning it. Should I cut two of the trees  and give one a chance to get big or should I try to leave all three? I know it's hard to visualize without a picture but I had trouble uploading a picture.

maybe a few pictures of the tree will help get a response.

Also do you want one big tree or a smaller one with lots of character? People pay crazy money for trees with multiple stems. It is largely a matter of personal preference.

Is it close to any fences or structures? I won't plant any tree close enough to my house it can ever fall on my house when it is grown. I like dogwoods for that reason - nice, small shade tree, great for wildlife and never get big enough to damage your house.
