Hang in there. Do you have a generator?
Thanks, yeah we're good. Generators running, have plenty of gas and food. It's weird though, look outside and none of the neighbors lights are on and ours are. We drove around a bit and all dark.

still raining here. Feel bad for the crews working in this crap. Cold and wet. They are swapping crews out to get warm, dry and rest, then sending them back out.

Yes, also hard to be as productive and safe at night scouting and working.  Company I worked for moved to working day light then rest and do it over.  There were crews at night to handle some things but not as many.

Hope it gets back to normal soon!

Looking at a PTO style, as our current generator really isn't big enough. Had a PTO style growing up. I need a 35kw.

Yup. Tractor can power it vs another motor sitting around. I'd need a 55 HP tractor for 35kW.

:o
That's quite a bit!

We plan a whole house unit for our house build and could probably use a smaller one than we're doing if we'd not run certain stuff.  Though it is good to know you can run whatever you may need/want.

5,290 still without power including us. No time frame on when it'll be on.

That's rough!  Glad you have some generation to help.  Hope temperature has moderated a bit.

Sedgehammer

Yeah, it's much warmer. There was like 300k total without in the metro. Not sure how many still without  on OG&E.

We were lit Saturday afternoon. Nice having it back on.

The local hardware store saved me a pole saw attachment for my power unit. He said he figured we'd need one, so he pulled it from his stock..... :laugh:

We just came back on, yesterday and today was high winds that knocked out power all around here. I saw one cluster of trucks working on a 3phase line restringing a leg, usually they are well cleared. I worked on my wifes car in a friends garage where we have been doing a tranny swap. We had the woodstove going which is great but had to wear headlamps the whole time  :D. His came back on right after I left, we came on about 4 hrs later. That should be about it, we are the end of a remote line so low priority.

doing mechanic work with headlamps, fun...... leastwise you had heat, that sure helps.

We are the furthest leg away from the power station as well.

Spent all day yesterday with the pole saw. will be all day today and tomorrow also.

FEMA is in on the clean up. They opened bids up on Friday for 6 hours and accepted 5 bids. Here they are;
1 = $3,000 per ton
2 = $1,000 per ton
2 = $500 per ton

The $3,000 per ton is a large asphalt plant. They have their own quint axle dump trucks and will be using loaders with grapple buckets. they should make around $6 million for 2 weeks work. Loose brush is about 250 lbs a yard. 25 yard dump truck is about $6,200......

here typically demolition clean up pays about $100 a ton......

They went with them all as dumb as that is. i was told it's because they need it done asap and that's fine, what isn't fine is that when they saw the huge differences they didn't get the 3k one to lower it.

Spoke with my electrician friend who lives in the city. He's still without power. Many in the city he said were without still. Yikes.

Right now we have about a 200 yards of tree branches out at the road.

I'm thinking of cutting our 25 cedars that line our property along the private road. The city said they will haul off all waste, so an easy time to do it. They are under the power lines and they get cut back every 5 years or so and look goofy, then with all this ice, they are now trimmed up about 12' and some higher off the ground. I think I'll replace them with either different flowering shrubs that will blossom all summer and something like Japanese maples that have very pretty foliage all summer or combos of each. Something that is at least 8' tall, but under 20'
