It's such a shame for all those workers, man that sucks nearly 400 people out of work in the main employre for the town.

Sounds like it will be tough times for all those families :'(

Seems to be the way things are going to continue for the pulp industry in Canada. Domtar just recently announced a major restructuring of its operations in Ontario. I think Tembec actually ended up taking over some of the northern operations for now.
Crazy enough to try it! (once)

QuoteTembec, based in Quebec, and the Birla Group of India, still have some details to work out, but they're confident the mill will be going back into production by this fall.

Is the TEMBEC plant in Temmisscaming, Ont. still in operation? I toured the plant years ago with a troubled teen wilderness program on our way into the Lac Ostabonia area.

Thanks Swamp Donkey, When I was there they hed just taken delivery of as new processing machine from Europe and it looked like their commitment was long term as the capital cost of the unit was significant in relative terms.

Well that is good news, lets remember the hundreds of spinoff jobs that were lost as well, I know of alot of woodsworkers that will hopefully get something back out of the deal. I just hope that the mill workers that do return realize what they can loose now and cool off on their wage requests and such....
