Frozen larch?

Hi guys. 

Well, my friend sawyer, in the next village, doesn't want to saw anymore for the year. 

We have the same kind of saw. I need a few joists. I have one job to finish for the year. And after its chairlift company time for the both of us. 

So i will have to resolve to cut myself. 

How hard is it, to cut frozen wood? In this case frozen larch. Well, it might not be that frozen. 

It dips into the -4 or 5 C° 23/25 F° at night. Goes to about 16C° 60F° during the day. 

But i'm a bit worried. I'm a newb at all that. 

What's your advice?

Frozen wood can saw nicer than thawed, especially for conifers. What doesn't saw nice is half frozen/half thawed wood, and you may run into that with your temperatures. All you can do is try it and see how it goes. Larch pitch really likes to build up on blades, have a spray bottle of diesel at hand👍🏻

Now it's lightly snowing. Invoice's time! They announce 2 to 4 inches. Enough to put me off, when i'm not on skis or snowboard.

Huh, and i nearly saw only larch, so i know about the pitch. Best solution for me, mix of diesel, washing up liquid, 2/3rd 1/3rd, and the mix that with water 1 to 5 or something like this. It gets the sugars, lubricates the blade. Avoids caramelizing of the pitch etc.

Well, it didn't saw too bad so far.

it stalled the blade at some point, but i  had forgotten to go into delta position, and was running on the fast feed speed.

1.74m³ turned into joists and planks. At least that's done.

How did it turn out? considering its not really frozen solid yet.

Fine, it wasn't frozen at all i think. Mind you i forgot to put it in full power with the wye delta switch, and the blade started slowing down. It never did that before, in the same condition of forgetting to put it in delta position. So something might have been different.
