Leamond lives in the Okeefenokee.  He has a farm and all the children and grandchildren have houses there.  When it's time to work, they all turn out.

This time I sawed wood to repair a barn.  The house in the background I sawed out several years ago.

No slackards here.  Women and children alike off-bear the mill, clean up and the women fix some of the most delicious dinners you will ever put in your mouth.

We had just finished eating when the Catholic Pope was elected.  Leamond looked at all the people in the courtyard of the Vatican and said "look at all those people, they must be going to have dinner on the grounds today".

79 and going strong.

I don't see a house in the background. ::) ::)

I think the house sank in the swamp. :(

His comment reminded me of an exchange I heard between Mary's Uncle Forest and Aunt Sue.  They are dairy farmers in Wisconsin and run a bed and breakfast on the top.  Their work is 24/7.

The conversation around the breakfast table was about some protest that was going on in Madison for some stupid reason.  10s of thousands on the street.

Aunt Sue says "Ain't those people got jobs?  Who's got the time to go down there and protest?"  Uncle Forest says, "I just wonder where they're all going to go potty."  That was the sum of their curiosity and interest.
