I was thinking about picking up 20 cases of Hiram Walker in the two liter jugs and 300 family-size bags of Funions. I’ve already got plenty of ammo, so I figure I can always acquire the other things I need.

What is a Funion ?  Is it a staple one could survive on?   I have 6 - 5 gallon carboys, some  yeast, and 100 pounds of sugar that will provide adult beverages from the weeds that grow in our yard for years  ;D
Our Costco was stocked up on oil today and the prices weren't bad.

Look like onion rings but have the texture and crunch of a Cheetos puff extra crispy.  A sweet, onion flavor that you can't eat just one!

Hiram Walker and Funions?  Like together?  That combination will kill you! The only combination that could be worse is mixing Sun Drop and Botanical Gin - tastes just like a stink bug!

It would be a bad combo for sure. For the record, I have never eaten a Funion and don't ever expect that I will. They seem to me to be a perfect example of junk food with no redeeming qualities. Not to start a ruckus, but I'd say the same for Cheetos.

Yeah, I don't buy those fried snack things.  But... I've been know to scarf a couple handfuls if they are around.

Re-organized and topped off the pantry, extra case of bar oil and a couple cases of Stihl Motomix on the shelf, couple extra bars and several chains per saw. My favorite Red Wing boots are almost a year out on order because of a shortage of the proper steerhides due to problems in the feedlots out west, you just never know...Picked up another comfortable pair just to have in case.Speaking of tv entertainment, our favorite discovery has been the Cowboy Channel on RFDTV.....the rural lifestyle is alive and well!

I think Red Wing is full of it...I'm calling banana sauce on that one, there are no problems in the feedlots and hides out here. Those calves are the same as they have been for years... Might be a shortage of tannery employees, or the hides are stuck in a cargo container floating on a ship.

Regarding the boots... You could get made to order, built to fit your feet, Nick's boots in half that time or less. If you have "foot problems" it's a great way to go as they will be made to fit your feet... I have no more big toe rubbing problems and that alone made them worth the time and money!

Probably shipping, the local kill plants here tell me hide prices are so low because of cheap Chinese hides that they've been better off sending them to the rendering plant

I went to the Amish store to get 2 100lb propane tanks filled. 2 months ago they were $42 each

Saturday, I rolled the tanks in and didn't ask the price before he started filling, because I needed it.  I braced myself and asked. $42.   The english propane places have steadily increased. I asked him about it. He said we prebuy so the price is locked. We buy it cheap so we can sell it cheap. How much is is at the "english" supplier here for 200lbs? $146!

so about 3.32 / gallon which really isnt that bad. Wholesale propane is closer to 1.50 / gallon and then you have to get it from M B Texas to NY or the NE

Yesterday I received a large order of sawmill blades, enough blades to last me three years. This morning I'm going to my local saw shop and buying enough chainsaw chains to last me three years.
The prices of everything is rising and even tho prices are high now, they will continue to rise. Steel and oil products are and will be especially hard hit.
Because of inflation money in the bank is losing value while products are gaining in value in relation to the dollar.
So, my money is coming out of the bank and buying the supplies I need for the next three years.

I expect many of you can guess why it's the next three years I'm concerned about.

Keep on sawing.....Cutter
what i learned studying peoples experience surviving hyperinflations and dictatorships- timing is everything.  the time to stock up was 10 years ago. when i was hoarding anything i could get at 90% off everyone said i was crazy, but they were happy to sell me stuff cheap, just above scrap. today thats 200% off.
the time to do it was then. the time to give that advice and have everyone agree its a good idea is now because its apparent to the masses that window has closed.
"the means of production" are being transferred from the common man to the conglomerate.  the conglomerate only sells to the high bidder and there is always a higher one than you.  keep that in mind when you go for groceries. when youre thirsty, its too late to dig a well.
i suggest you dig and plant now.

What makes things worse overall now, as compared to the past, is the vast majority of people around here have no idea how to fix or make things, or hunt, or grow vegetables, or defend themselves. Those of us that can will be fine...

We can also take advantage of others inability to fix things... A few recent examples: I got 3 free snowblowers last year and spent about $230 as I recall on parts to restore them all to full function (e.g., skids, scraper bar, tire tube, chute, plugs, carb, did a valve job on one of them). Now my sons have snowblowers for use at their new homes... and I have one to replace my sons' shoveling.   One of my sons dropped off a free Husky chainsaw he obtained recently... the carb was gummed up and the rings were stuck from sitting (piston and cylinder are clean). A carb kit, carb cleaner, Liquid Wrench, air filter, a gauge to set the Walbro metering lever height, and sharpened the chain, and it works fine.
