Trying to figure how tight my blade needs to be. I have a hydraulic cylinder in it to push on bladetension. But for 1and a half in. blade x .045 in. thick how much pressure does it take. dont want to break it.

What are you running for a mill?  My concern would be strain on the wheel bearings long before excess tension breaking a band.

Easy way $$$$'s is to buy a strain gauge and tension band to manufactures spec than mark your hydraulic gauge. A lot of bands run 16 - 24,000 psi.

Cheap way is to measure bands stretch with calipers and do the math. Called Young's Modulus of elasticity. Do a forum search as it has been discussed.
