John Rich (singer - songwriter of "Big and Rich" fame), did an interview where he told about playing bass for a weekend with Merle Haggard. When he met him, he was wearing a fishing hat and an oversize Tee shirt that said "Merle Haggard" on it, with his picture. John thanked him for wearing that shirt, and Merle asked: "Why?" He said: "If you hadn't of worn it, I'd of had no idea who you were!" :D
