"So we drilled it out so that it would fit, and with a little bit of help with an A-dapter kit, we had that engine running just like a song."

Now the headlights, they were another sight, we had 2 on the left and one on the right. But when we pulled the switch, all three of 'em come on.

Finally mounted, a Briggs and Stratton Vangaurd 23 hp much easier to get parts for. Everything clears, I started and ran it last night. I will mill some stuff this weekend.  Only one more thing to change,  the fuel line from the tank to the filter is tired and split a little when I connected the line other than that it will go.
Had to run down shorter belts as the geometry is different and the drive belts wouldn't get tight enough.

Recycling the mufflers off of the predator, going to add a zip tie or two to keep the wires corralled.  Project is good enough I will saw for a little bit then change the oil.
Hopefully be trouble free for a while.

well, from the 70s, I think if you find high heat red ceramic paint, and call those headers into a cherry bomb muffler, might make it look cool.  cannot assure that it will run better.   :snowball: ffcheesy ffcheesy ffcheesy

I had a predator from harbor freight @jpassardi  Which ran well, when it was running. Too many issues with decaying rubber products, parts aren't as easy to get, got about as much fixing little things done as milling. We will see how this goes.

Gotcha, I think you'll like the Kohler.

I am sawing up the red cedar cant that as left on the mill from when I gave up on the predator.  Couple little set backs, pulley-bushing slid on the shaft, while sawing. I didn't like the old bolts decided a quarter inch longer might be better. That seems to have helped. Motor seems a bit quieter, power seems the same. There was quite a bit of heart rot complete with carpenter ants so I will get may be half of what I started with. Hopefully the silver maple log next in line will be worth a picture.

I am sawing again.  ffsmiley

Congratulations!
The amputation was a success, as was the augmentation.
Wishing you more than 10,000 hours of milling happiness with that motor. 👍

Well the silver maple log is on the mill. I finished the can't and edged the flitches, pitched most of a stack of green ash flitches as they had gotten too much rain and weren't worth the stickers they were intended for. So I  made 1 Green Ash 2x6 and a  really wormy 1x out of what was left and cleaned up.  Maybe ended up with 50 bf of 5/8" closet liner  Red Cedar. I guess I am happy with what I got done, I am on call this weekend so three trips into the office were sprinkled in. Slab rack is full so I need to cut it and fill the firewood totes sitting there. A little more to do clean up wise but my mill is functionally better.

Andreis thank you, that I feel would be quite a feat.
