SEVEN YEARS of flawless and maintenance free performance. Still washing and drying as well as new.

Thank God, Speed Queen, the state of Wisconsin and PC Urban Sawyer!

Glad to hear the Speed Queen machines are still doing a good job for you!

My Speed Queen conversion also right at 7 years as a result of the same thread. I don't think I have run into a single person happy with the new junk once they started using it and working on it, again, and again, and again.

Speed Queen washer is still going strong here too!

Got almost 20 years out of my Simpson (Aussie made) washer and dryer that I bought when I moved in here. But after meeting Lil and a couple of kids later, they basically wore out. They needed a few minor repairs over that time, but they were DIY ones.

Bought a Panasonic washing machine that has so far been fine, and a Haier heat pump dryer. Supposedly the heat pump dryer uses a lot less power because it's like a DH kiln. So far it works fine, but Lil complains it's slower with a heavy load. But it doesn't need to be vented, and water drains from a hose rather than being vented with all the waste hot air.

We shall see how they goes long term.

Haier is a Chinese company that bought out NZ based Fisher and Paykel, mostly for their tech and brand name. We already had a dishwasher and freezer of theirs that have also worked fine.

Have no frills Maytag washer and dryer, have never missed a beat. 20 years on a washer is a good run, and that has been the life on all Maytags we've had. After 20 years of no break downs, they don't owe me much. :)

The Speed Queen Factory website suggests they are still proudly making them.

Not a fan of the new digital features and high efficiency washers but
that is mostly what is out there if you need one and can't afford a $1300 speed queen.

We needed to replace a 10 yr old whirlpool and ended up with a 4.3 cu. ft.LG from HD.
Its so efficient ? that it doesn't add enough water to wash the clothes on normal setting and on heavy or deep cycle it adds too much water.
So no manual control of water levels like the older machines.
I figured out a workaround on the normal cycle. Add a 1/2 to 1 gal water depending on load size before turning on the washer. It weighs more that way and will add more water.
Its all about the wight and is what determines water level.
So now we have to trick washers to do a good job.

My advice would be avoid Samsung large appliances. Fridge, dishwasher(specially bad), washer & dryer none lasted very long and after we had them found out we weren't the only ones with same problems.

Our 20+ year old electric dryer has just about had enough...

Looked up what model's SpeedQueen had available, talked it through with the wife, then ordered one from a store near my work, site unseen.  I have a half day tomorrow, so I'll do last minute shopping, then grab the new dryer.  5yr Warranty, and they come to you at no charge.  If it works as well as the washer, we'll be happy.  We did compare or price shop, just looked for one with manual knobs and SpeedQueen label!

7/8 years ago Ann's washer died. I went out and got a new one. Water saver all they had. The thing had a brain cramp. I called them to look at It. The guy shows up not with tools but a laptop. He got it going. 3 days later it did the same thing.
To me this is bull. I picked it up and threw it off the deck about 12' down. Now it's broken. ffcheesy ffcheesy

I went to a used appliance store and got a used Kenmore. Had a cast iron pump and motor. $50.00
Works like a champ.
All the new stuff is junk. My fridge is making some noise now. I think it's 15 years old. When it dies I will get the cheapest thing out there. Knowing it won't last but a year or two. ffcheesy
