Thanks!

I especially like the logs dumping in the water, bandsawing and cross-cutting pictures :)

CHARLIE

I learned some stuff from comparing the picture titles with the picture. Thanks Jeff.

Nice pics. I can relate to most of it, but, the loggers here didn't use dozers, well, not in the swamps anyways. ::) ;D

Standing in front of that cut off saw looks like a scary place to be :D :D ! Wade

Good ones Jeff ,reminds me of a book I've got called Gifts from the Forest. It's dated 1952 but alot of the photos are older it looks like to me.It's geared toward a younger generation. Thanks for the effort ! I really like that stuff, I've been picking it for years mostly on a southern theme .It seems there's less of it than the other regions but i like it all.

In the photo "loading logs", are they using a " swamp donkey" to move said logs?

Neat photos!
I like that one titled "Tractor Skidding", looks to be a Caterpillar RD8 outfitted for logging. It's pulling a heavy tracked log arch, that uses the cable winch off the tractor. Guessing those were photographed somewhere in the Pacific northwest by the size of the timber.

Steam Donkey engine. They used those around here, with either a stiff leg jammer and cross hauling the logs, or a swinging boom jammer. I can't remember the name of the one unit, it was elevated and the cars went right underneath it. That one was kind of the pinnacle of the steam loadersaround here.
