Halfway through my 3rd log (just been piddling) and I find that one wheel shaft has been spinning in the race and has worn both the shaft and race into sloppyland, so it's off to the machine shop with it.  I also learned that it is possible to run through a log too slow!

By the way, I bought some Munkforssagar blades and am very happy with those so far.

Don't let them wear ya down, Smakman! :D  Looks like you're getting the major "challenges" out of the way early.  Don't let it get ya down.  You may go for months or even years without another major break, but it may happen again tomorrow.  Just go with the flow and make all the sawdust you can. :)

Smakman,
On the worn race housing, you can use a Loctite product that can bridge large gaps.  Upward to 0.020" I think.  I'll have to dig up my Loctite book for further details.

On some high speed motors they don't use press fits anymore, they use a large gap adhesive and let the two bearings self align themselves.

Well, since this was on the blade pully, it has quite a bit of pressure on it from one direction.  I'll have it back in a day or two.  Meanwhile I am checking bearings, housings, set screws, ect. all over the place.  Kind of eager to get back to learning.  I have a couple of cherry logs I intend to graduate to after the cedar is done.

Maybe I will put on an old blade and go ahead and get that done.  I probably don't graduate unless I use a new blade though, eh?

Smakman;
I always use conic sleeves holding bearings, weels and other stuff on shafts under radial pressure. Set screws also push the shaft to one side of a hole, not to the center as sleeves does.

Never tighten a sleeve in a bearing too hard!

 Old blades have forgotten how to find the dogs and metal.

I think if you ask around this forum you will find that this loss of metal hunting ability, is the main reason people have there blades sharped
